A amizada, a lealdade dos dois pistoleiros começa a ser ameaçada com a chegada de Alliso French (Renée Zellweger), uma jovem viúva, pianista e fogosa. Cole e Hitch se apaixonam pela mesma mulher que, por sua vez, tem outras paixões. Confira no trailer abaixo:
Mas além desse triângulo amoroso, o filme Appaloosa, Uma Cidade Sem Lei tem uma trilha sonora primosora que revelava o piano de Renée Zellweger. Isso mesmo, a ruiva atriz de Diário de Bridget Jones também tem lá seus dotes artísticos relativamente refinados quando está ao piano.
E, como se não bastasse, Ed Harris atua, dirige, é o protudor, roteirista e ainda canta essa primorosa You'll Never Leave my Heart. A canção, que aparece já na hora da exibição dos créditos, diz mais ou menos assim:

Bem dirigido por Ed Harris, Appaloosa, Uma Cidade Sem Lei é um faroeste de dar saudades dos bons tempos do cinema. Além da fotografia impecável de Dean Semler e trilha sonora que ficou a cargo de Jeff Beal.
